Paper and Pipe Cleaner Christmas Candles

Christmas decorations capture the magic of the festive season, and nothing creates more coziness than candles. Instead of using real ones, why not craft your own candles from paper? This creative and eco-friendly project brings festive sparkle to your home – without any fire hazard!

What would Christmas be without a little sparkle? Gold and silver elements are classic accents for holiday decorations, and incorporating them into your paper candle crafts is an easy way to elevate the design. Gold and silver chenille stems can be twisted and shaped to create a glowing “flame” on your paper candle, while shiny stars and glitter glue add a sparkling accent.

One of the best things about crafting paper Christmas candles is how easily you can personalize them. You can choose colors that match your holiday theme, whether it’s traditional red and green, frosty blue and silver, or even modern pastels. You can also experiment with different shapes and sizes for the candles, or add your family’s favorite elements, such as names, festive ribbons, or small ornaments next to the candles.

Cut a rectangular piece of paper to the desired height and width of your candle. Roll the paper into a cylinder and glue the edge to form the candle body. 

Take two pipe cleaners in different colors (e.g., yellow and orange) and twist them together. Shape them into a flame.

Place the candle body on a piece of paper and trace the bottom. Cut out two circles that are slightly larger than the opening of the candle. In one of the circles, make a small hole in the center (this is for the flame).

Cut a pipe cleaner to the desired length and glue it to the top edge of the candle.

Thread the pipe cleaner flame through the hole in the top circle and secure it with glue. Glue the top circle to the candle body and the second circle to the bottom of the candle.

Decorate the candle with glitter glue, sequins, pipe cleaners or other decorative materials.
