Children love it when everything is colorful and bright. With this crafting project, they can design the flowers in their own preferred colors. This creates individual works of art that bring joy and promote creative thinking.

Age: From 4 years

Duration: 1 - 2 hours

Difficulty: Easy

For this project you will need:

Hand holding three homemade spring flowers made of colorful paper strips. The blue, purple, and pink flowers are attached to wooden sticks and decorated with green paper leaves.

Super easy for kids

When crafting with my son, I always notice how important it is for projects to be simple so that he can do as much as possible himself and not lose interest. With these flowers, children can do most of it themselves and let their imaginations run wild.

Self-confidence through creativity

Creativity fosters children's self-confidence by allowing them to design their own projects and then see the finished result and recognize what they have achieved themselves. The joy and pride in children's eyes are simply wonderful.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1

First, draw the body, beak, and wings as templates, then cut them out of the colored paper.

A child places their hand on pink craft paper, while a second person traces the hand outline with a pen. The hand shape serves as a template for a homemade paper flower.

Step 2

Roll up the handprints and secure the tip at the bottom with a small piece of clear tape.

Two hands form cut-out handprints from colorful paper into a flower. On the table are more paper handprints and craft materials for a creative spring flower.

Step 3

To roll the petals, take a pen and roll each petal individually from top to bottom around the pen.

Ein Kind und eine erwachsene Person wickeln gemeinsam einen orangefarbenen Pfeifenreiniger um einen Stift. Daraus entsteht der Blütenstempel für eine selbst gebastelte Frühlingsblume aus Papier.

Step 4

For the pistil, wrap a pipe cleaner around a pen, then thread it through the flower and trim the end of the pipe cleaner.

Mit Bastelkleber werden grüne Papierblätter an einem Holzstab befestigt. Daneben liegt eine fertige Papierblüte – ein Bastelschritt beim Gestalten von bunten Frühlingsblumen.

Step 5

Finally, you can cut out leaves from paper and attach them to the flower along with the wooden skewer.

Ein Kind schneidet mit einer Schere eine Kartonrolle ein. Dieser Bastelschritt dient als Grundlage für eine selbst gemachte Frühlingsblume aus Papier und Recyclingmaterial.

Step 6

For the flowers, cut pieces about 1-2 cm wide from toilet paper rolls. I needed 8 pieces per flower.

Step 7

Paint the pieces with acrylic paint as desired. For the lighter colours, I painted over them twice.

Step 8

Once everything is dry, you can glue 6 pieces together in a circle with hot glue. In the middle, the tips of the individual pieces should be as close as possible to each other.

Step 9

You can now attach the wooden skewer between the leaves with hot glue. Additionally, you can attach the two remaining pieces slightly offset as leaves to the wooden skewer, also with hot glue.
